The Summer Program at Lewis University offers students from Universidad de La Salle an intensive academic focused on biological and chemical analyses of agricultural soils. The program combines laboratory-based learning, data analysis, and hands-on experimentation with cultural activities in the Chicago area.
Participants will gain practical experience in environmental monitoring, microbiological techniques, chemical analysis, and data interpretation, while strengthening their academic and intercultural competencies in an international setting.
Program Dates: July 6th – July 15th
Scholarship Coverage:
The scholarship includes:
- Accommodation during the program
- All meals
- Transportation around Chicago for cultural activities
- Bed linen
Note: International airfare, health insurance and personal expenses are not included.
Students’ Requirements:
General Requirements
- U.S. Visa: B1/B2
- Grade Point Average (GPA): Minimum 3.5
- English Proficiency: Minimum B2 level
Academic Requirements:
1) Academic Program: Environmental Engineering
Minimum Required Courses: Environmental Measurement and Monitoring (Medición y Monitoreos Ambientales)
Preferred Courses:
- Bioremediation (Biorremediación)
- Prevention of Soil Degradation (Prevención de la Degradación del Suelo)
2)Academic Program: Chemical Engineering
Minimum Required Courses: Analytical Chemistry (Química Analítica)
Preferred Courses: Unit Operations III (Operaciones Unitarias III)

Application Process:
Interested students must meet all general and academic requirements, hold a valid U.S. B1/B2 visa, and submit their application through the International Relations Office at Universidad de La Salle. The required documentation includes a copy of the passport, a copy of the visa, and a motivation letter.
Application Timeline:
The call for applications opens on April 13, when it will be published and disseminated through institutional channels. The application deadline is April 27, and complete applications must be submitted via email to relainter@lasalle.edu.co
The academic and language review will take place from April 28 to 30, during which candidates’ academic background, GPA, English proficiency, and course requirements will be evaluated. Selection results will be announced on May 4, and selected candidates will be notified via email.
